sizdah-bedar / persian nature's day
Persians have a tradition of spending the day outdoors on the 13th day of month Farvardin. ''Sizdah-'' means thirteen, and ''-bedar'', means to get rid of, i.e "getting rid of thirteen".
We are planning a weekend getaway into nature, Saturday, a day of trail walking, playing, having Ash Reshteh (Persian herb, bean, noodle soup), throwing away the ''Sabzeh'' which is wheat or been sprouts, the symbol of growth, and the knotting of the grass followed by group fire cooked dinner and a night of stargazing, bonfire, and relaxing in the spa.
